What does certified organic mean ?

You may think that organic just means no spraying of herbicides or pesticides but it a means lot more.

As a certified organic farm we are inspected each year to verify not only that we not spraying synthetic herbicides or pesticides but that we are also working to improve soil and reduce environmental impact. We do this by using good management practices such as cover crop and fertilizing during specific times of the year as well as planting different crops in different spot, known as crop rotations. We love questions about organics so please reach out if you have any at all. You can also read the standards that we have to abide by here in order to be certified organic.

What do you have thats gluten free?

While we have a few grains that are naturally gluten free, we mill it all in the same facility so if you have allergies we suggest you purchase from a certified gluten free operation.

Do you grow everything yourself?

We grow all vegetables, eggs, and 75% of the grains on our farm. The reason we dont grow all of them is because we only have so much land and time. So the corn is grown by a certified organic farm in Ohio, reach out if you would like more information on the farm.

Do you mill things on the farm?

Yes! We are milling and grinding everything on our farm. We have 2 stone mills and make everything to order

Are your chickens free range or pastured?

Our chickens are pastured raised and fed a certified organic diet

That means that the corn and soy diet they are given have also been certified organic

Do your chickens eat soy and/corn?

They do and the reason is that they need more calories and protein then what can be found through just eating bugs in pasture. Our chickens are on our farm to produce eggs and as their stewards we make sure that they are well fed
